Forward Science buys EarAid smart earplugs from Dental Innovations

Forward Science said yesterday that it acquired exclusive rights to earpieces from Dental Innovations for smart earplug technology for dental health providers.
The Dental Innovations device, which Forward Science will rebrand as EarAid, is designed to protect dental professionals who are exposed to damaging noise from high-speed handpieces, high-volume suction, ultrasonic instruments, model trimmers and other devices.
The exposure dental professionals experience to such noises over long periods of time can lead to permanent damage and hearing loss. The EarAid is recommended by the American Dental Assn.
“It is important to make known that this is not a typical noise-dampening earplug, but a smart earpiece,” Forward Science CTO Brian Pikkula said in prepared remarks. “EarAid is more than just protection, because it allows you to easily communicate at normal office audio levels, while protecting your ears from decibels that could cause permanent hearing damage.”
“The only real preventive solution is protection with noise reducing earpieces,” added Dental Innovations founder Dr. Sam Shamardi. “I created the high-definition electronic earpieces to help the dental industry prevent noise-induced hearing loss. No other solution existed that could protect our hearing while still allowing us uncompromised communication with our patients and staff.”
