WONTECH, a Korean company, won FDA clearance for its HairBoom Air hair loss treatment helmet.
The device delivers low-power laser therapy to the scalp, bathing it in light. This kind of treatment has been shown to help increase blood flow around hair follicles, increasing oxygenation in nearby tissues, resulting in more hair growth and improved hair quality.

The HairBoom Air, similar to the already available iGrow device, looks like a bicycle helmet and was designed to be as light as possible (600 grams, 1.3 lbs). WONTECH hopes that this will lead to patients using the system for the entirety of the prescribed regimen, as heavier, more ridiculous looking helmets can lead people to abandon the therapy too soon.

The new helmet has an array of laser diodes and more conventional light emitting diodes to cover the entirety of the scalp in light at three different wavelengths (630 nm, 650 nm, 660 nm).
WONTECH is already well established in the Korean market, producing all kinds of light-based surgical and aesthetic products. It hopes that the HairBoom Air will be its big entry into the United States.
