AdvaMed said this week that it launched a Center for Digital Health advocacy platform for advancing digital health and highlighting the contributions of the medtech industry to data-driven health care.
The association established its Digital Health Sector in 2016 to serve the needs of companies in the space, and it said the new center is intended to build on the sector’s success.
The digital health center is designed to include a wide range of medical and digital technology companies that are hoping to use data and technology to make improvements and enhance quality and efficiency in health care delivery, according to a news release.
AdvaMed said the new center will provide member companies with opportunities to explore new trends, network, develop and advocate for public policy positions and engage with stakeholders and policymakers in the U.S. and around the world. The center’s website is designed to be a resource for stakeholders to access policy documents and information on issues such as privacy, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and more.
“AdvaMed’s Center for Digital Health will help bridge the gap between patients and the latest in health care innovation,” AdvaMed president & CEO Scott Whitaker said in prepared remarks. “Our aim is to be the resource and gathering place for all stakeholders in this exciting – yet challenging – new frontier of digital health, with the ultimate goal of improving patient care.”
“Digital technologies and data-enabled insights and interventions are fundamentally changing how patient care is delivered,” added chief strategy officer Andy Fish. “This new era of care will be revolutionary, not just evolutionary, but we’re still in new territory and there are barriers to overcome on the way to a future in which the promise of digital health is fully realized. Our new center is focused on ensuring that regulatory, payment and delivery system reforms will accelerate and expand access to innovative digital health technologies and solutions.”
