ChoiceSpine has announced the full market release of its next-generation Harrier stand-alone anterior lumbar interbody fusion (ALIF) system.
Harrier SA is a 3D-printed stand-alone screw-based system that incorporates ChoiceSpine’s proprietary BioBond porous structure technology. The system features four titanium, dual-threaded corticocancellous screws designed for lag purchase. The interbody is available in three anatomical footprints with multiple lordotic options.
Harrier SA has an integrated cam-locking mechanism for additional security, allowing quick and secure screw back-out prevention, according to ChoiceSpine. The Harrier SA system is indicated for stand-alone use but if additional fixation is desired, the system is compatible with the company’s Raven anterior lumbar plate system.
Betsy Grunch, a design surgeon for the Harrier SA system, said: “The Harrier SA system instrumentation and implants provide an exceptional solution for my patients requiring anterior lumbar fusions. The wide variety of footprints and lordotic options allow for optimal restoration of the disc space. In addition, the system allows up to 45° screw angulation which is optimal for L5-S1 implant placement.”
Steve Ainsworth, ChoiceSpine’s executive vice president of strategy and technology, added: “The launch of our next-generation Harrier SA system builds on our already robust family of 3D printed product portfolio. Harrier SA provides surgeons an excellent stand-alone solution for ALIF procedures.”
