B. Braun announced today that Caroll H. Neubauer will retire at the end of August after 24 years leading the Melsungen, Germany–based medical and drug delivery device giant’s North America operations.
Jean-Claude Dubacher, a former Johnson & Johnson and Abbott executive who already took over Neubauer’s role as CEO of B. Braun Medical at the start of the year, has now also assumed Neubauer’s position as chair and CEO of B. Braun of America, effective June 1. Neubauer will stay on until Aug. 31 as executive director of B. Braun of America.
Based in Bethlehem, Pa., B. Braun of America includes B. Braun Medical (also in Bethlehem), B. Braun Interventional Systems, Aesculap and Central Admixture Pharmacy Services (CAPS). Under Neubauer’s leadership, the North America operation grew from $247 million in annual revenue to more than $2 billion with over 8,000 employees in 2019.
“We thank Caroll Neubauer for more than three decades of truly remarkable achievements for our company, for his close collaboration with our partners in the healthcare industry, and for his tireless work for the benefit of patients and healthcare providers,” said Ludwig Georg Braun, chairman of the supervisory board of B. Braun SE.
“Unforgotten will remain as well his persistent, determined and successful efforts to achieve the repeal of the U.S. medical device tax,” Braun said in a news release.
Anna Maria Braun, CEO of B. Braun SE and B. Braun Melsungen AG, praised Neubauer’s “pioneering leadership, his valuable advice, his passionate support for our employees and, above all, for his friendship.”
