Stryker (NYSE:SYK) announced today that it surpassed 1 million Mesa pedicle screw implantations globally since the device launched in 2006.

Mesa pedicle screws are designed to offer a 60-degree range of motion, variability in the sagittal plane and rod placement accommodations to eliminate screw height adjustment. The instrumentation is designed to address challenging correction maneuvers in complex spine surgery, according to a news release.

The Mesa spinal platform from Stryker includes top-loading, low-profile systems such as Mesa Deformity, Mesa 2 Deformity, Mesa Degenerative, Mesa Mini, Mesa Rail and Mesa Small Stature.

To celebrate the milestone implantation, Stryker plans to feature the Mesa system in a virtual exhibit space during the North American Spine Society (NASS) annual meeting between Oct. 6 and Oct. 9.

“At Stryker, we are driven to continue leading the way in complex spine innovation,” Stryker spine division president Eric Major said in the release. “This extraordinary milestone demonstrates our ongoing commitment to advancing state-of-the-art solutions, like Mesa, which have helped surgeons produce positive outcomes in patients who present with many of the world’s most debilitating spinal pathologies.”
