Butterfly Network announced that it expanded the compatibility of its Butterfly iQ imaging device to include 10 Samsung and Google devices, and added financing options from Affirm.
Butterfly iQ is a handheld, single-probe whole-body ultrasound imaging system. The Guilford, Conn.-based company’s goal is to make ultrasound technology universally accessible and affordable. According to the company, it is the world’s first ultrasound-on-a-chip system and was approved for use with Apple (NSDQ:AAPL) products in October 2017.
By making the product compatible with nine Android devices and one tablet, Butterfly said it is expanding its reach even further. It plans to continue adding devices and features in the future.
The compatible devices recently added by Butterfly include:

  • Samsung Galaxy (Model S10 SM-G973U, SM-G973U1)
  • Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+, and up
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab S6
  • Google Pixel 3 and 3XL, and up

Butterfly believes Affirm’s financial technology will also help the Butterfly iQ remain an affordable option compared to traditional systems. Affirm provides customers with a transparent payment alternative to cash and traditional credit, as Butterfly offers its ultrasound at prices starting at $58 per month.
“Growing our list of compatible devices and expanding financing options is a critical part of our mission to democratize healthcare by expanding access to medical imaging,” Butterfly Network president Gioel Molinari said in the news release.
