Collagen Matrix hires ex-Boston Scientific GM as CEO

Collagen Matrix announced that it appointed former Boston Scientific (NYSE:BSX) executive Shawn McCarthy as its new CEO and as a member of its board of directors, effective Jan. 27.
A nearly 30-year veteran of the medical device industry, McCarthy most recently served as GM of structural heart valves at Boston Scientific. There, he was responsible for developing and launching products and acquiring key technologies, according to a news release.
Before Boston Scientific, McCarthy served as president & CEO at Tryton Medical and held other management roles before that at companies such as Cordis and AngioDynamics (NSDQ:ANGO).
“Collagen Matrix has established itself as the premier developer and manufacturer of collagen-based medical products with world-class technological expertise, a focus on quality, and strong product development capabilities,” McCarthy said in the news release. “I am honored by the opportunity to contribute to this organization and am excited to work with the talented team at Collagen Matrix.”

Collagen Matrix develops the OssiMend Bioactive Moldable bone graft matrix line of products, intended for use in spinal procedures. The platform won FDA clearance in April 2019.
