Exactech (NSDQ:EXAC) announced today that it acquired intelligent patient wearable device developer Muvr Labs for an undisclosed amount.
Muvr Labs’ portfolio is designed to help surgeons engage with joint replacement recipients throughout the care process, according to a news release.
The company’s platform includes wearables, mobile device applications and chatbot texting to allow for remote monitoring while healthcare teams receive real-time data for the patients’ experience and recovery.
Wireless sensors in the platform measure a patient’s range of motion and the self-calibrating design allows for the patient to manage the wearable independently, removing the need for in-person office visits and intervention from the healthcare professionals.
Exactech expects a pilot launch of the Muvr technology to come in early 2021, with a full release of the platform by the end of the year. Additionally, the company plans to develop the technology to support shoulder and ankle replacement surgery down the line.
“We are incredibly excited to join efforts with the team at Muvr to transform the relationship between patients and surgeons through this comprehensive care management platform,” Exactech CEO Darin Johnson said in the release. “This acquisition demonstrates our continued commitment to delivering personalized, data-driven solutions to improve patient outcomes.”
