Phillips-Medisize opens second design center in Denmark

Hudson, Wis.-based Phillips-Medisize LLC has opened a second design and development office in Denmark, this time near Copenhagen.

The center, in Virum, supports the company’s long-term growth plans for advanced injection molding, wearable devices and connected health technologies.
The site will complement other European centers in Struer, Denmark, and Cambridge, England, according to company officials, while giving Phillips-Medisize a presence in a geographic cluster of top universities, hospitals and pharmaceutical and medical device companies known as Medicon Valley.

The cluster of 28 hospitals, nine universities and more than 200 businesses spans the Greater Copenhagen region of eastern Denmark and southern Sweden with a focus on what Phillips-Medisize describes as unmet medical needs related to oncology, diabetes and personalized medicine.

The center will employ up to 100, with the first round of hiring underway to fill 30 positions in pharma and medical devices, project management, quality assurance, regulatory affairs, software, electronics and mechanical engineering.

Phillips-Medisize also operates development sites in North America and Asia, most recently opening an office in Bangalore, India.
With an estimated $440 million in North American annual sales for injection molded parts and devices, Phillips-Medisize was No. 18 in the most recent Plastics News ranking of North American injection molders.

The company is part of Molex LLC, which serves a variety of markets including electrical solutions.
