ResMed (NYSE:RMD) has debuted its next-generation positive airway pressure (PAP) device, AirSense 11.

San Diego–based ResMed’s AirSense 11 includes new features such as “personal therapy assistant” and “care check-in,” both features designed to offer tailored guidance to PAP users and help them ease into therapy and comfortable nightly use for treating obstructive sleep apnea, according to a news release.

Additionally, the platform includes the availability of remote software updates.

AirSense 11 also features a touch screen and intuitive menu that mimics a smartphone to increase the ease of use and support adherence to therapy. ResMed’s proprietary therapy algorithms for “AutoSet” or APAP (auto-adjusting PAP) support breath-by-breath therapy adjustments.

“AirSense 11’s new tailored features along with our myAir patient engagement app help give people the support they need to use PAP – the gold standard for treating sleep apnea – comfortably and confidently every night,” ResMed president of sleep & respiratory care Jim Hollingshead said in the release. “And when digital health helps guide patients, it enables clinicians to provide great care to all their patients more efficiently.”
