Vonco Acquires Genesis Plastics Welding

Vonco Products, a plastic products and packaging manufacturer, recently announced the acquisition of Genesis Plastics Welding, an ISO 13485-certified:2016 thermoplastics contract manufacturer, to further diversify its portfolio. Vonco manufactures custom flexible component and packaging solutions, from liquid tight bags of any shape to any desired shape of fitment using both supported and unsupported films.

“Diversifying our portfolio allows us the ability to manufacture specialty plastic products and provide end-to-end contract manufacturing services to our customers,” Keith Smith, CEO of Vonco, told MD+DI. “Our unique ability to develop equipment, tooling, processes, and products creates innovation and value for top medical device and consumer product companies looking for welded plastic products.”

The Indiana-based Genesis offers clients support when manufacturing specialty medical devices, fluid bags, flexible packaging, contract packaging, and sterilization management. The acquisition will provide Vonco with an additional 42,000 sq ft manufacturing facility which includes 3,363 sq ft of clean room space, access to Genesis’ radiofrequency welding and heat-sealing manufacturing capabilities, and will expand product offerings including bioprocessing, cell separation and culture, cryogenic storage, and blood bags.

While Smith noted the acquisition will add “a great amount” of Genesis employees to its roster, he declined to discuss specifics. The company also stated that the final financial figure for the acquisition remains confidential at this time.

The acquisition is Vonco’s third in as many years and the company said it plans to keep increasing the tally. “Our goal is to continue to increase our capabilities in both the healthcare and consumer industries to provide value and innovation to the world,” Smith told MD+DI.
